Case Study: Frontiers

Understand the Audience
Understand the Audience

Working in a global environment where safety is a number one priority, Frontiers is used to connect every level of the Boeing workforce from factory floor workers to executives. Given that our audience is so broad we push our content out on several different channels including printed and digital platforms.

Define the Problem
Define the Problem

We start planning art and photography early on in the process of content development but because the issue is produced each month when all the pieces - the story, photography, headline - are all in there is only really a few working days to finalize the layout for the stories before it needs to start routing for approvals.

Ideate and Prototype
Ideate and Prototype

Each issue is written for and about the Boeing employees with approximately 3-5 feature stories and a possibility of up to 10 standing features. The darker maroon is the cover story, the purple shows the feature content, the grey shows ad space and the orange represented our department pages.

Test and Refine

In this iterative process, the layout was often used to redefine one or more problems and inform make informed decisions about how best to continue to reach the audience. In this stage, the standardized template was in use but alterations and refinements are continuing to be made.
